During the course of our representation of clients, it is sometimes necessary to collect personal information as well as social security numbers. The purpose of collection of such information is to enable our office to represent our clients properly. Social security numbers are often required in order to obtain medical records which may be essential to the proper prosecution of personal injury claims. Additionally, social security numbers may be necessary in order to file tax returns, probate forms, and conveyance tax returns as well as other required government filings on behalf of our clients.
It is our policy to keep any personal information and social security numbers confidential, and such information is not released, except when necessary to obtain records or file reports. Our staff and attorneys are trained to hold all personal information and social security numbers, in confidence and any questions concerning the release of any such information should be directed to the attorney handling your case. Access to your files is limited to staff and personnel. You should also be aware of the fact that certain court filings and interrogatories require the disclosure of your social security number at this time.
